Your questions about the Finary connector

The full guide, assistant by assistant, is in our help centre.

What exactly is the Finary connector?

The Finary connector is built on Model Context Protocol, an open standard that lets your assistant read data from an external service. With Finary, your assistant reads your wealth and answers on its allocation, your accounts, your positions, your fees per fund and a compounding simulation.

Which assistants work with the Finary connector?

The Finary connector works with Claude, ChatGPT, Grok, Perplexity and Mistral, and with Claude Code and Cursor from the command line. More broadly it works with any MCP-compatible client: nothing in your account restricts your choice, and you sign in with your Finary account, with no API key.

Can my assistant touch my accounts?

No. The Finary connector is strictly read-only: your assistant reads your wealth, it cannot place an order, make a transfer, or change or delete anything. Access can be revoked from Finary or from your assistant, with immediate effect.

Is this investment advice?

No. The Finary connector lets your assistant read and describe your wealth, not recommend an investment. Your assistant’s answers do not constitute investment advice, and the connector adds no tool to buy, sell or rebalance anything in your accounts.

What data goes to my assistant?

The Finary connector sends the assistant you chose:

  • your net worth and how it’s split, including per family member;
  • your accounts, holdings, property, loans and other assets;
  • your income, spending and budgets, and up to two years of history behind them;
  • your goals and plans;
  • the family and companies you’ve added;
  • your name, email and linked-account status.

It only ever reads your own data: the connector gives access to no account other than yours. Retention and training depend on your assistant, whose policy is worth checking.

How do I disconnect the Finary connector?

To disconnect the Finary connector, remove it in your assistant or revoke its access from your Finary account. Revocation takes effect immediately: your assistant no longer reads your wealth, and nothing is changed in your accounts or in your positions.

How do I install the Finary connector?

Installing the Finary connector takes about a minute and requires no API key. You paste the connector URL into your assistant, then you sign in with your Finary account. On ChatGPT, you first need to turn on developer mode, in Settings, Security and login: without it, adding a custom connector is not offered. The connector stays read-only, and your assistant reads your wealth from there. The step by step guide, assistant by assistant, is in our help centre.

ChatGPT will not let me add the connector, why?

ChatGPT only allows custom connectors when developer mode is on. Open Settings, Security and login, turn on Developer mode, then add the Finary connector from Plugins. Developer mode is available on paid plans, from a browser.
