Binance is leaving Europe: what it means for your crypto
As of July 1, 2026, Binance has stopped offering its services to European residents due to the lack of a MiCA licence. If you hold crypto on Binance, here is what this changes for you in practice, and how to keep control of your assets.
What happened?
On July 1, 2026, MiCA (Markets in Crypto-Assets), the new European framework for crypto-assets, came fully into application. The rule is simple: any platform offering crypto services in Europe must be licensed, or cease its activity.
Binance did not obtain this licence. The platform has therefore stopped offering its services to European residents.
Your crypto is not lost
Your crypto on Binance is neither frozen nor lost. It remains accessible and you can still withdraw it. However, most services (buying, selling, swapping, staking) are now heavily restricted.
To keep full control of your crypto, the safest move is to withdraw it to a cold wallet or a regulated platform.
